The Coast Guard Bronze Pistol Excellence-in-Competition Award is a Bronze badge with two pistols and a target at the center. Above the insignia's are inscribed "Pistol Shot" while below it will inscribe the regional category. The bronze Pistol device may be attached on a Marksmanship Ribbon.
What is the Coast Guard Bronze Pistol Excellence-in-Competition Award Decoration?
The U.S. Armed Forces awards excellence-in-competition (EIC) badges to personnel members from competitions hosted by military services, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) or the National Rifle Association (NRA). Records of leg points are reviewed and earned within pistol matches in accordance with Coast Guard service regulation. In order to maintain marksmanship skills, Coast Guard personnel are encouraged to enter sanctioned competitions. The U.S. Coast Guard awards their Bronze EIC Badges when a Coast Guardsman earns their first leg points competing in an authorized category of competition. There are three levels of EIC competitionl; installation or unit level competitions - level 1, regional or command level competitions - level 2, and service, interservice, or national competitions - level 3. All of the military services have uniquely designed EIC badges that are awarded to their members. EIC badges awarded at these levels of competition are the same with a few exceptions. For EIC badges awarded at national competitions, the Coast Guard emboss the word "NATIONAL" at the top or bottom of their EIC badges to distinguish them from other Coast Guard EIC badges.
